DAKAR Daily – STAGE 7 – Sam Sunderland Wins The Loop Stage!

Stage 7 was a loop track with 63KM of road section and 323KM competitive mileage, 386 KM in total, started and finished in San Juan de Marcona.

KTM’s Sam Sunderland (GB) was in charge today and tried to minimize the damage caused of a rear brake problem that he had in the Stage 6. He won by 01′ 51” clear from Honda’s José Ignacio Cornejo (CHL), who finished the day with P2.

Adrien Van Beveren – Yamaha

3rd fastest of the day was Honda’s Ricky Brabec and this performance put him back on top in the overall classification by 07′ 47” clear from Yamaha’s Adrien Van Beveren (FRA).

Breven had also a good stage and finished with P4 which carried him up to 2nd overall in the general classification.

4.187 KM has been covered and yet we have five riders in just ten minutes gap! Only three stages left…

“I started out Today with the intention to push a lot. I was going really well but there was one WPC (Waypoint Control) in the dunes and I lost maybe 3-4 minutes there. Couldn’t find, it wouldn’t validate a waypoint and … a bit frustrating but got back on track… Yeah I feel more or less Good.”
