PORTUGESE DGC CRIPPLES EXTREME XL LAGARES ON LATE NOTICE!

FIM WORLD HARD ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP, ROUND 1

After missing this spectacular event in 2020, all the elements of the race were ready to give it a go even with the fact that we were to miss legendary City Prologue.

World Hard Enduro Championship 2021 season opener Extreme Lagares normally had a 3 days racing format on its regular racing weekend. Starting with a very demanding Enduro Cross event on the first day, continuing City Prologue on the second and the Main Race with breath taking scenery on the third.

2018 CITY PROLOGUE

This years event was already stripped from the City Prologue and the competitors were to have a 2 days action at the Enduro Cross venue, Serra do Pilar (Maneuver Park), before the Main Race on Sunday.

Late last night Extreme XL Lagares made an announcement saying that “Due to the late imposition by the DGS (General Health Directorate), the event will take place in full – 3 days, within the premises of the Serra do Pilar Headquarters (Parque de Manobras).” which meant the cencellation of the Main Race.

This was a huge blow in the face for organizers, promoters, riders and the teams. Extreme XL Lagares team and promoters put great effort to make all these preparation for us all to enjoy a great racing weekend.

This is an event announced in mid February and if there was any precaution to take it should have taken with some notice, not in the last minute!

Translation of the Original Announcement

“The Extreme Clube de Lagares, hereby inform all Participants and Teams of the 2021 Edition of Borilli Extreme XL Lagares – Opening event of the Hard Enduro World Championship and National Hard Enduro Trophy, that the event that will take place this end weekend, unfortunately it will have a different format from the one presented.

Due to the late imposition by the DGS (General Health Directorate), the event will take place in full – 3 days, within the premises of the Serra do Pilar Headquarters (Parque de Manobras).

The whole Organization, FMP and Entities have joined forces over the past few days, however the late opinion by the DGS, requires that this event of a global nature, has to take place “behind closed doors”.

Right now we are joining forces, so that we can minimize the loss and that above all, competition and spectacle with all the players prevail.

We count on your understanding and support, in order to preserve the good name of this competition.”
