DAKAR Daily – STAGE 1 – The Dream Level Challenge Kicked Off in Peru!
Dakar 2019 Has Started With Stage One on Monday the 7th of January.
Stage one was a 330 KM route from Lima to Pisco started with a road section of 246 KM which is followed by a 84 KM of competitive stage mileage.
This years action got underway with the Bike category and it was JOAN BARREDA BORT (ESP-MONSTER ENERGY HONDA TEAM 2019) who triumphed the stage with his 00H 57′ 36” performance, 1 minute 34 seconds clear from PABLO QUINTANILLA (CHL- ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING) who finished the day with P2.
RICKY BRABEC (USA- MONSTER ENERGY HONDA TEAM 2019) was the third quickest of the day, meaning two Honda’s in the top three.
YAMALUBE YAMAHA OFFICIAL RALLY TEAM had a good start to the rally with ADRIEN VAN BEVEREN (FRA) and finished the stage with P4 by only 1 second quicker than SAM SUNDERLAND (GB) of RED BULL KTM FACTORY TEAM.
Last year’s winner MATTHIAS WALKNER (AUT- RED BULL KTM FACTORY TEAM) had a steady start and finished the stage with P7 some 3 minutes slower than BARREDA.
